What is Polygonum Multiflorum Extract?

Polygonum Multiflorum is known by several names such as Heshouwu, Fo-ti, Shou-Wu-Pian, Shen-Min, Tuber fleece flower, and Chinese knotweed. Besides the traditional use of folk tonics, extracts of Polygonum multiflorum have been shown to support healthy aging [1]. 2,3,5,4′-Tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside, isolated from Polygonum multiflorum, which is traditionally used as a healthy aging support tonic. Tetrahydroxystilbene glucoside possesses a potent antioxidative capacity, it may enhance stress resistance supporting healthy aging. *

Nutritional Value or Phytochemical Content

2,3,5,4′-Tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside is the active ingredients of Polygonum multiflorum. The other compounds include emodin, emodin glucopyranoside, emodin dianthrones (trans-emodin dianthrones and cis-emodin dianthrones), and polygonumnolides. Physcion, apigenin, hyperoside, rutin, vitexin, beta-amyrin, beta-sitosterol, and daucosterol also rich in Polygonum multiflorum.
